  1. I really like the contrast in the top pic. It looks really nice. I like too that it is not a frontal pic, it makes you think about what needs to be included to make something a portrait.

  3. I love the one with your back. I don't know what it is about it but it's so beautiful. The guitar one is excellent as well. Maybe try looking into the distance, instead of towards the camera? Good job :)

  4. I like the extreme darks and lights right up next to each other in the first image. All of your images are good - I wonder what would happen to the composition in the third one if you cropped off the left side and top a little more?

  5. i like the angles of the first two photos. i like your self portrait in that it is an explanation of yourself. i not sure, however, if i like the background in the last picture as it is a bit distracting. maybe cropping the image will suffice if you don't want to re-shoot it.

  6. top one is very expressive and works well. it is definitely a keeper for the final set. the third one might be in an "in-between" stage where we need the subject to be darker or lighter. it could either go towards a silhouette against white or be resot with fill light on the subject. second image is good, but i wish that her facial expression was as relaxed as her body language.

  7. Love the lighting in the first one! Also the emotional quality of it is great. It really evokes something.
I like the perspective of the second one, but the girl gets a little lost with all the other stuff going on.
The third one is interesting, but i'd like to see the window area darker and the subject lighter. It's hard to read the person's emotions without looking really closely because of the shadows.

  8. My favorite is the first one. I love the extreme contrast in this photo and how the girl's head fades into the black background. The lighting works well too.

The background in the last photo I think is too washed out. I don't know if there is a way to darken that without making the figure too dark.

  9. 1. I really like how you were able to black out so much of the background…it really draws focus to the model's shoulder

    2. I wish there was more contrast between the model's hair and the bedspread

    3. The guitar could be a touch lighter

  10. I really like the first photo too! the lighting is very intimate and it really helped to show the texture of her skin. I love how her head is faded in the darkness in the up left corner. very very nice angle and idea! :-)

  11. The high contrast in each of your photos suit them all quite well. The angle of the first makes the photo very expressive. Some cropping would be nice on the last photo to keep the background from being too distracting.
